BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern senior Brittany Winfree of Fairhope is the recipient of the J. David Fraley Scholarship Award presented during the college's 2007 Honors Day Convocation.

She wrote her senior thesis on Fairhope's Organic School based on extensive research conducted in the school's archives dating back to its founding in 1907.

The award, presented annually by the Department of History at BSC, is in honor of the retired professor of history who taught at the college from 1967-03. It is presented to a senior history major who has written the most distinguished paper for that year in the departmental senior seminar.

She is the daughter of Russell and Wanda Winfree. She will graduate from Birmingham-Southern May 26.
