Birmingham-Southern College professor receives ODK teaching excellence award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Dr. Byron Chew, Monaghan Professor of Management at Birmingham-Southern, is the recipient of the Omicron Delta Kappa Excellence in Teaching Award presented during the college's 2007 Honors Day Convocation.

The award, sponsored by the BSC chapter of the national honorary, recognizes a faculty member who has attained a level of excellence in all aspects of teaching, including classroom performance and student advising.

Chew, who joined the BSC faculty in 1980, received his bachelor's degree from Carnegie-Mellon University and his doctoral degree from the University of Alabama.
