Local student receives teaching award at Birmingham-Southern College
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern student Amanda Milazzo of Hammond, La., is the recipient of the Rutherford Ray Black Teaching Award presented during the college’s 2007 Honors Day Convocation.
The award, which is presented to a graduating senior in teacher education who has demonstrated outstanding teaching ability, scholarship, and leadership, memorializes Black, who was a Birmingham-Southern education professor and 1930 graduate of the college.
Milazzo, an elementary/collaborative education major, is the daughter of John and Angela Milazzo. She will graduate from Birmingham-Southern May 26.
