Birmingham-Southern College professor receives faculty award at honors ceremony

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Charles Mason, professor of music at Birmingham-Southern College, is the recipient of the Richebourg Gaillard McWilliams Faculty Scholarship Award presented during the college's 2007 Honors Day Convocation.

The award, which includes a $2,500 cash stipend, is named for the late English professor who taught at BSC for more than 40 years. It is given to an outstanding member of the faculty based upon recommendations by his or her colleagues.

Mason holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Miami, and a master's and doctoral degree from the University of Illinois.
