Chattanooga native receives Birmingham-Southern College award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern student Emma Corey, formerly of Chattanooga and now of Harrisburg, Pa., is the recipient of the endowed Hubbs Award presented during the college's 2007 Honors Day Convocation.

The scholarship was established in 2006 by the family of LaMar and Louise Hubbs, parents of BSC Associate Professor of Library and Archives Guy Hubbs, to mark the Sesquicentennial year of the college. The purpose of the award is to honor the student who best exemplifies the twin principles upon which Birmingham-Southern College was founded: academic excellence and selfless service.

A junior religion major, Corey is the daughter of John and Jean Corey of Harrisburg, Pa.
