Birmingham-Southern College named to President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern was named to the first-ever President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. The college was recognized, on behalf of President George W. Bush, for helping to build a culture of service and civic engagement in our nation.
More than 500 colleges and universities applied for the Honor Roll in its inaugural year. The program, which began in 2006, recognizes and promotes outstanding community service by institutions of higher education and their students across the country. It is co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, Housing and Urban Development, USA Freedom Corps, and the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation.
