Birmingham-Southern to host state students' singing auditions

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern College will host the Alabama chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) annual competition on its campus Feb. 23-24. The competitions will take place Friday, Feb. 23, at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 24, at 1:30 p.m. in Hill Recital Hall. The auditions are open to the public, and admission is free.

About 315 students from colleges across the state are registered to compete in this year's auditions. This number more than doubles the total of last year's participants.

NATS, founded in 1944, exists to encourage and promote ethical vocal teaching and vocal art at all levels. The Alabama chapter is part of the Southeastern region along with Florida, Georgia, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
