Birmingham-Southern College student wins Best in the South award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Jeremy Burgess of Homewood, a junior English major and journalism/creative writing minor at Birmingham-Southern College, has been awarded a Best Feature Writer award in the 2006 Best in the South competition at the 21st annual Southeastern Journalism Conference.

The award was the result of entries submitted by staff of the BSC student newspaper “The Hilltop News.” Participants in the Southeastern Journalism Conference include colleges and universities throughout the Southeast.

Burgess is the son of Robert and Janet Burgess of Homewood.
