Birmingham-Southern College students selected as Rotary Ambassadorial Scholars

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Two Birmingham-Southern College students have been chosen by The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International to receive its prestigious Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship for international cultural study.

Eddie Lacour, a senior political science major from Dothan, will study for one year at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, pursuing a master's degree in international peace studies.

Kris Sornsin, a senior international studies major from Alexander City, will study for one year at Central European University in Budapest, Hungary, pursuing a master's degree in nationalism studies.

The Rotary Scholarships, which reach up to $25,000, are intended to further international understanding and friendly relations among people of different countries. The scholarships are sponsored by local Rotary clubs.

The Rotary Foundation offers three types of scholarships: Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarships for one year of post-graduate and cultural study, Rotary Cultural Scholarships for three months of overseas study, and Multi-Year Rotary Scholarships for two or more years of international study and exchange.
