Birmingham-Southern student places at regional composition competition

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.— Birmingham-Southern College student Jenna Lyle won Honorable Mention at the Southern Division of the Music Teachers National Association Young Artist Competition held recently at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla.

The MTNA Southern Division, which includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Tennessee, presents only two awards in each category of its competition. Besides Honorable Mention, a winner is selected.

Lyle won the state composition competition for her work entitled “An Ostinato for the People,” which was then entered at the Southern Division level.

A senior music major from Carrollton, Ga., Lyle is the daughter of Mike and Cathie Lyle.
