Birmingham-Southern College students to perform Shakespeare's “As You Like It”

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern College students will produce and perform William Shakespeare's “As You Like It” in only three weeks during the college's January Interim term.

The play, set in contemporary Latin America, will include tango dancing by guest choreographer and period movement specialist Nira Pullin. As a theatre professor at Wayne State University of Evansville, Ind., Pullin is the recipient of the President's Award for Excellence in Teaching and has taught period movement throughout the world.

The production and performance of “As You Like It” is an Interim term theatre arts class in which 31 Birmingham-Southern students are enrolled. The students are working daily building sets, creating costumes, designing lighting and sound, and rehearsing.

Performances are Jan. 25-27 at 7:30 p.m. and Jan. 28 at 2:30 p.m. in the BSC College Theatre, Mainstage. General admission tickets are $10; $5 for students. For tickets and additional information, contact the College Theatre Box Office at 205/226-4780.
