Retiring Birmingham-Southern College Chancellor Neal Berte becomes president emeritus

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Birmingham-Southern College Board of Trustees has bestowed the honorary title of president emeritus on retiring BSC Chancellor Dr. Neal Berte in recognition of his years of service to the college.

BSC President Dr. David Pollick made the announcement Dec. 11 during a luncheon honoring members of the college's Endowment Builders Society, a donor group established during Berte's presidency.

Berte was honored with the title of chancellor in 2004 upon his retirement after nearly 29 years as president of the college. He recently announced that he would complete his retirement effective Dec. 31, 2006.
