BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Meredith Ervin of Huntsville is Miss Birmingham-Southern College 2007.
The freshman chemistry/dance major was crowned following talent, swimsuit, and evening wear competitions Saturday night, Nov. 18, in the BSC Theatre. The contestants also participated in an on-stage interview.
Miss BSC 2006 Mary Kathryn Gaines of Heflin crowned Ervin. Melinda Toole, Miss Alabama 2006, was the pageant host.
Ervin's talent was ballet and her platform was Protecting You/Protecting Me. She is the daughter of Dr. Norman and Deborah Ervin.
Carlon Alexandra, a senior dance education major from Muscle Shoals, was first runner-up to Miss BSC 2007. Alexandra won both the Talent Award and the Anne and Neal Berte Community Service Award for her platform Jewelers for Children: The Industry with a Heart. Her talent was tap dance. She is the daughter of Jan Carlon.
The Miss BSC Pageant is an official preliminary competition for the Miss Alabama Pageant scheduled for next June. Ervin will compete to become the 22nd Miss BSC since 1938 to also be crowned Miss Alabama.
