BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Luis Santeiro, an Emmy Award-winning writer for “Sesame Street,” comes to the Birmingham-Southern campus Sept. 28 as part of the college's Hispanic Heritage Celebration. He will speak in the Norton Campus Center Theatre at 11 a.m.
Santeiro has won 15 Emmy awards for his writing for “Sesame Street” and one for his groundbreaking bilingual 1970's sitcom “Que Pasa, USA?” He is primarily known as a playwright whose plays use more than a touch of satire to examine such subjects as Catholicism, Hollywood, and Hispanic stereotypes. He will share his life story as well as his journey to becoming a writer and playwright.
The lecture, sponsored by the BSC Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Department of Theatre and Dance, is open to the public and admission is free. For more information, contact 205/226-4733.
