Birmingham-Southern First Lady nominee for Just Plain Folks Music Award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern College First Lady and violinist Karen Bentley Pollick has been nominated for a Just Plain Folks Music Award for an instrumental album recorded with pianist Bruce Hanifan.

The Just Plain Folks Music Organization recently announced nominees for its 2006 awards after receiving 25,500 albums and 350,000 songs from 105 countries. “Ariel View: Tone Poems for Violin and Piano” is among eight Best Album nominations in the Instrumental Album category.

All nominations are posted on the Just Plain Folks Web site found at www.JPFolks.com. The winners will be announced at the organization's Music Awards Show on Nov. 4 at the Galaxy Theater in Santa Ana, Calif.
