BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern College First Lady and violinist Karen Bentley Pollick will perform at the inaugural concert of the Magic City Chamber Music Festival Aug. 4 - Aug. 6. The concert will take place at the Alys Stephens Center with afternoon and evening sessions both Friday and Saturday, and a Sunday brunch.
Pollick will be featured in the Friday evening salon along with the Alys Stephens Center Chamber Players; Yakov Kasman, piano; Denise Gainey, clarinet; Michael Fernandez, violin; and Dennis Parker, cello. The program will include Brahms Piano Quartet No. 3 in C minor, Prokofieff Overture on Hebrew themes, and Shostakovich Piano Trio.
Following the Saturday evening performance featuring the Pacifica Quartet, Pollick will take part in a discussion with the Alys Stephens Center Chamber Players.
The Magic City Chamber Music Festival is presented by the Alys Stephens Center and the Birmingham Chamber Music Society.
