BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Four Birmingham-Southern College students will spend three weeks this summer in Prague studying composition at the Czech-American Summer Music Institute. The BSC students are part of a group of only 14 total students accepted to the program.
CASMI is an international program for the study of composition. The students will have private lessons, master classes, in-studio work, a concert premiering their work, and sight-seeing expeditions.
Selected BSC students, listed alphabetically by hometown, are:
North/East: Erika Pipkin, a senior composition major from Irondale and the daughter of James and Marilyn Pipkin.
South: Matt Phillips, a first-year graduate student in music composition.
Jenna Lyle, a junior music major and the daughter of Mike and Cathie Lyle.
Trey Tatum, a senior theatre arts major and the son of James and Tracy Tatum.
