Birmingham-Southern College Concert Choir in concert again to benefit restoration of burned Alabama churches

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Concert Choir of Birmingham-Southern College, under the direction of Joseph Hugh Thomas Professor of Music Lester Seigel, will present a concert May 21 at the First Presbyterian Church in Livingston at 5 p.m. to benefit the 10 Alabama churches burned or destroyed by arson in February. Members of the congregations from the churches are expected to attend.

The public is cordially invited, and admission is free. Donations will be taken at the door to benefit the college's Alabama Churches Rebuilding and Restoration Fund.

In March, the BSC Concert Choir completed a spring tour across Georgia and South Carolina. The tour was celebrated at a Homecoming concert on the BSC campus April 6. BSC choir students collected donations on the tour and at the Homecoming concert to benefit the Alabama churches fund.

This performance of the 38-voice undergraduate choir is being organized by John Brown, director of worship arts at First Presbyterian Church Livingston. For more information about the concert, contact Brown at 205/652-2550, or by email at
