BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—A Sesquicentennial festival, a combined class dinner, and a band party under the stars are among the events available to alumni when they return to the Birmingham-Southern College campus May 5-7 for Alumni Reunion Weekend 2006. This year's reunion honors all graduates and is open to all alumni and their families.
Friday, May 5, events include a BSC alumni golf tournament at the Robert Trent Jones course; a Golden Decades luncheon for the classes of 1924-1956; Class of 1986 20th reunion reception open to the members of the classes of 1985, 1986, and 1987; Class of 1956 50th reunion dinner and reception open to members of the classes of 1955, 1956, and 1957; and a Hilltop Singers reunion reception with a performance by the current Hilltop Singers jazz ensemble and featuring BSC Joseph Hugh Thomas Professor of Music Dr. Lester Seigel at the piano.
Activities and events on Saturday, May 6, include a “Let's Get Rowdy” festival across the campus and academic quad, including the BSC One A-Chord Gospel Choir, Miles College Choir, the Magic City Boys Choir, and activities and games for people of all ages; a free “Taste of Birmingham” picnic lunch compliments of Golden Flake, Dreamland Barbecue, Locos Deli, Papa John's Pizza, and Sneaky Pete's Hot Dogs; Dinner Under the Stars class receptions; and a Sesquicentennial fireworks display followed by a band party.
Reunion Weekend 2006 will conclude with a Memorial Service Sunday, May 7, in the BSC Yeilding Chapel at 9 a.m.
