BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Dr. Peter Donahue, associate professor of English at Birmingham-Southern College, recently won the 2005 Langum Prize for Historical Fiction. The national award was in recognition of his debut novel “Madison House” released by Hawthorne Books last November.
The Langum Project for Historical Fiction, part of the Langum Historical Trust, sponsors the national competition. An awards ceremony was held March 11 in Birmingham to recognize winners in both the historical fiction and legal history/biography categories. The award carries a $1,000 honorarium.
Donahue joined the Birmingham-Southern faculty in 1999. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Washington, a master's degree from Virginia Tech and a doctoral degree from Oklahoma State University.
