BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Dr. Wayne Shew of Hayden, a 28-year veteran of the Birmingham-Southern faculty, has been selected to serve as associate provost of the college.
Shew, who is Ada Rittenhouse Snavely Professor of Biology and served as interim provost of the college for the 2004-05 academic year, will begin his new duties this summer.
“His long history with the college, his background in the sciences, and his administrative experience as division chair and interim provost will be valuable in his new role,” said BSC Provost Dr. Kathleen Murray.
Shew joined the Birmingham-Southern faculty in 1978 and has served as chair of the Division of Science and Mathematics and is a past recipient of the Exemplary Teacher Award from the Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry of the United Methodist Church. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and his master's and doctoral degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
