Birmingham-Southern to celebrate its Sesquicentennial Homecoming with men's and women's basketball and other festivities

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern College is preparing to tip off its 2006 Homecoming celebration. This year's theme of “Forward, Ever. . .Cheers to 150 Years!” will include weeklong activities on the college's campus beginning Monday, Feb. 20, and culminating Saturday, Feb. 25, with the annual men's Homecoming basketball game.

Homecoming events include a Homecoming King and Queen court, a campus-wide office decorating competition, a reverse parade to view the sorority/fraternity house decorating contest and chili cook off, a caricature artist, and free food and prizes. A bonfire will be held Thursday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. in the Bill Battle Coliseum parking lot.

BSC women's basketball versus Coastal Carolina will be spotlighted Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. in the Bill Battle Coliseum. For the first time ever, a BSC Homecoming King will be crowned during halftime.

The week will conclude Saturday, Feb. 25, with a men's basketball game against Big South Conference rival Winthrop. The game begins at 7 p.m. in Bill Battle Coliseum. The match up will likely determine this year's conference champion. The 2006 BSC Homecoming Queen will be crowned during halftime.
