BIRMINGHAM, Ala.— Birmingham-Southern College student Kate Brantley of Madison, Miss. has received the 2006 Alliance Francaise Travel Award.
The award will pay for Brantley to travel to Paris in the spring. It is sponsored by the Alliance Francaise of Birmingham, a non-profit, privately supported association founded by area Francophiles.
The group aims at developing cultural exchanges between the United States and France. It also promotes the study of French while fostering friendship between French and American people mainly through the organization of social and cultural events, and French language classes.
Brantley, a junior English major, is the daughter of Mary T. Bishop of Madison, Miss.
