Birmingham-Southern faculty and Alabama Symphony Orchestra members to perform

BIRMINGHAM , Ala. —Birmingham-Southern College Assistant Professor of Music and soprano Jacqueline Leary-Warsaw and Adjunct Professor of Music and pianist Virginia Dismukes will perform with Alabama Symphony Orchestra members Lisa Wienhold Bartlett on flute, and Judy Donaldson on clarinet. Bartlett and Donaldson are both Birmingham-Southern Adjunct Professors of Music.

Concert d'Après-Midi: A Concert of Vocal Chamber Works will be Nov. 6 at 2:30 p.m. in the Hill Recital Hall. The performance will display the artists' interpretations of vocal chamber works from the late 19th and 20th centuries, including works by Joseph Marx, André Caplet, André Previn, Michael Head, and Elaine Hugh-Jones. Four Poems of Emily Dickinson by Birmingham-Southern Visiting Professor of Composition Traci Mendel will also be performed, with program notes given by the composer.

The performance, a part of the College's Sesquicentennial celebration, will be followed by a reception.
