BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Dr. John Tatter, English professor and chair of the Humanities Division at Birmingham-Southern, was presented with the inaugural Outstanding Educator Award during the college's 2005 graduation ceremonies in May.
The award is given to an outstanding member of the BSC faculty based upon recommendations by his or her colleagues. It recognizes a faculty member who is characterized by excellence in all aspects of teaching, including classroom performance and student advising. The award includes a $2,500 cash stipend and an invitation to serve as speaker at the 2006 Commencement.
Tatter, who joined the BSC faculty in 1985, received his bachelor's degree from Houghton College and his master's and doctoral degrees from Ohio University.
