Birmingham-Southern professor produces, writes, hosts special Christmas TV episode

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Dr. Jacqueline Leary-Warsaw, assistant professor of music at Birmingham-Southern College, is the producer, writer, and on-air host of a Christmas episode of the televised concert series “In Concert.”

The episode, “A Child is Born,” is performed by the Orchestra of the 17th Century, the Chorus and Orchestra of the Catholic University of America, and the Choir of the Basilica of the National Shrine and was taped at the Basilica in Washington, D.C.

Conductors were Leo Nestor, Kate Tamarkin, and Peter Latona. The concert, which was co-produced with Washington, D.C.-based Lumen Cathechetical Consultants, features works by Bach, Hassler, Praetorius, Franck, and Menotti, among others.

“A Child is Born” will be televised on PBS, Channel 32, throughout the Washington, D.C., and Baltimore metro areas on Dec. 19, and will air internationally on EWTN Cable Network throughout Canada, Europe, Africa, India, and the Pacific Rim during the month of December. Viewers in the U.S. can see it Dec. 19 at 12:30 p.m. (CST), Dec. 22 at 8 a.m. (CST), and Dec. 25 at 2 a.m.(CST).
