BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Two student winners of the fourth annual
Whittington Competition at Birmingham-Southern College recently
performed with the Red Mountain Chamber Orchestra in BSC's
Hill Recital Hall.
The orchestra, led by BSC Music Professor Dr. Thomas Gibbs, accompanied
the 2003 Whittington Competition winners, including pianist Myron
Brown, a junior music major from Fairfield, and vocalist Katie
Hall, a junior music-voice major from Opelika.
The Whittington Competition is named for Frances and Dorsey Whittington,
who were leaders of The Birmingham Conservatory of Music which
later became the Music Department at Birmingham-Southern.
