Award-winning Birmingham-Southern students perform with Red Mountain Chamber Orchestra

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Two student winners of the fourth annual Whittington Competition at Birmingham-Southern College recently performed with the Red Mountain Chamber Orchestra in BSC's Hill Recital Hall.

The orchestra, led by BSC Music Professor Dr. Thomas Gibbs, accompanied the 2003 Whittington Competition winners, including pianist Myron Brown, a junior music major from Fairfield, and vocalist Katie Hall, a junior music-voice major from Opelika.

The Whittington Competition is named for Frances and Dorsey Whittington, who were leaders of The Birmingham Conservatory of Music which later became the Music Department at Birmingham-Southern.
