BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern College’s
2004 Homecoming celebration is scheduled for Feb. 23-28 on campus
and
will honor longtime BSC Chancellor and President Dr. Neal R. Berte,
who is retiring as president at the end of the current academic
term.
“We look forward each February to this annual tradition,” said Alex
Gresham, dean of students at BSC. “But this year’s Homecoming events
are particularly meaningful as we pay tribute to Dr. and Mrs. Berte for their
29 years of service to the college.”
Among the week’s activities on campus
are a spirit competition, Movie-Night-Out, sorority/ fraternity
house decorating contest, and several prize give-a-ways
for students.
A bonfire is planned for Thursday, Feb. 26,
at 9 p.m. in the parking lot area of Bill Battle Coliseum.
The week will conclude Saturday, Feb.
28, with a men’s basketball game
against Big South Conference opponent Virginia Military Institute. The game
begins at 7 p.m. in Bill Battle Coliseum. The 2004 BSC Homecoming Queen will
be crowned during halftime. The Bertes also will be honored during the game
by the student body.
