BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Area high school seniors
and their parents are invited to a free college financial aid fair
Saturday, Feb.
14, courtesy of the members of the Southern Association of Student
Financial Aid Administrators. The fair will be held at the Birmingham
Jefferson Convention Center, East Ballroom A, from 1-4 p.m.
The free assistance will be provided by members
of SASFAA who will be attending their regional conference in Birmingham.
The financial aid administrators are
from colleges in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North
Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
According to SASFAA regional president and Birmingham-Southern
College Director of Student Financial Aid Services Ron Day, there
will be a 1 p.m. information
session about applying for financial aid, followed by hands-on assistance
by the financial aid professionals.
“Students and their parents will learn how to file the free application
for federal student aid, which is required by most colleges when applying for
all scholarships,” Day said.
Parents are encouraged to attend with the students
and to bring their 2003 income information such as tax returns
and Social Security benefit statements.
Those attending may register to win a $750 scholarship to be used at
the college of their choice.
