Cullman's Morgan Smith crowned Miss Birmingham-Southern College 2004

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Morgan Smith of Cullman is Miss Birmingham-Southern College 2004.

The sophomore musical theatre major was crowned following talent and eveningwear competitions Saturday night, Nov. 15, in the BSC Theatre. The 12 contestants also participated in swimsuit and interview competitions earlier in the day.

Miss BSC 2003 Alexa Jones of Andalusia crowned Smith.

Smith also won the talent competition. Her talent was a vocal and her platform was Performing Arts Education Opportunities for Children.

Sunday Vanderver, a senior music and political science major from Remlap, was first runner-up to Miss BSC 2004. Vanderver also won the Neal and Anne Berte Community Service Award for her platform on the Make a Wish Foundation.

The other runner-ups included Jessica Headley, a freshman interdisciplinary major in philosophy/politics/economics from Hoover, second runner-up and winner of the swimsuit competition; Stewart Stokes, a junior biology/psychology major from Huntsville, third runner-up; and Carlon Self, a freshman dance education/secondary education major from Muscle Shoals, fourth runner-up.

Catherine Crosby, Miss Alabama 2003, was the pageant host.

The Miss BSC Pageant is an official preliminary competition for the Miss Alabama Pageant scheduled for next June. Smith will compete to become the 22nd Miss BSC since 1938 to also be crowned Miss Alabama.
