BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern College Professor of
Music Charles Mason’s composition Hradcanska was performed
July 7 at the Aspen Summer Music Festival.
Mason’s work was performed by the
internationally known Proteus Ensemble.
It was composed while Mason was in Prague in 1994 and is named
after the subway stop located near the studio from which he worked.
The work also has been released by the Mexican record company
Actus Classics Recording on the CD Planos.
Mason, who joined the faculty in 1982,
received his master’s
and doctoral degrees from the University of Illinois.
