Birmingham-Southern mourns passing of longtime faculty member

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Dr. Natwarlal Bosmia, a longtime Birmingham-Southern mathematics professor, died earlier today at his home of an apparent heart attack. He was 50.

Bosmia joined the Birmingham-Southern faculty in 1982 after receiving his doctoral degree in statistics from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a master's in mathematics from Gujarat University in Gujarat, India, and a master's in statistics from Southern Methodist University.

“This is a sudden and tragic loss to our Birmingham-Southern family,” said BSC

President Dr. Neal R. Berte. “Bos was a wonderful person, dedicated teacher, and beloved member of our community. He will be missed by all of us.”

Arrangements are incomplete at this time. The family has asked that a scholarship be established at Birmingham-Southern College in Bosmia's memory.
