BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern
College President Dr. Neal R. Berte has been elected to the Board
of Directors of
the Alabama Center for Law and Civic Education.
The non-profit corporation educates young citizens in civic knowledge
of law and government, develops their intellectual and participatory
civic skills,
and encourages their civic involvement. Founded in 1990, the center trains
more than 3,000 teachers and volunteers each year and provides free educational
materials to more than 100,000 students in public, private, and correctional
classrooms throughout the state.
Berte is in his 27th year as BSC president.
