BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern
begins its 2003 summer academic terms Wednesday, June 11, when
classes begin on the Hilltop
campus.
The college offers a full term and two accelerated half terms
during the summer. Full summer term courses begin June 11, with
finals slated to end July 25.
First half-term begins June 11 and ends with finals July 7. Second half-term
begins July 8 and ends July 31.
Birmingham-Southern also is hosting several athletic, performing,
and academic programs for youth. More than 3,000 youth from age
7 to 18 are expected for
the sports camps of baseball, basketball, soccer, softball, and volleyball.
Others will participate in dance, music, and theatre camps.
Rising high school juniors and seniors
from several states will participate in the college's weeklong
Student Leaders in Service program, which exposes the students
to leadership theories and opportunities to practice leadership
through community service projects.
The college's Summer Scholar Program
will introduce rising high school seniors to college life, while
awarding them college credit for coursework
completed during the seven-week program.
An Opportunities Day for prospective students is scheduled for
June 17.
