FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 17, 2003
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Alpha Upsilon
chapter of the Kappa Delta sorority at Birmingham-Southern College
has raised $24,000
through its Shamrock Project to prevent child abuse.
Money for the Shamrock Project was raised
through a letter campaign and the Shamrock Bowling Tournament
in which BSC's Greek organizations, Black
Student Union, campus police, and baseball team participated March 18.
Funds raised by the sorority—the largest amount collected in the chapter's
history—will be donated to Prevent Child Abuse America which, since 1972,
has led the way in building awareness, providing education, and inspiring hope
to those involved in the effort to prevent the abuse and neglect of the nation's
children.
