BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Eight Birmingham-Southern students eager
to explore different cultures and enrich their educational experiences
are studying modern history and culture overseas this spring term
as part of the college's Semester Abroad Program.
Birmingham-Southern students who study
in international settings as part of the college's Interim and Semester Abroad programs
receive academic credit for their experiences.
Birmingham-Southern is a four-year private
institution that receives consistently high rankings as one of
America's top national liberal arts colleges.
Listed by hometown, the students who are
studying abroad this spring are:
BIRMINGHAM Area:
Leslie Dean of Vestavia, a sophomore undecided major who is studying
at the University of London. She is the daughter of Joe and Ellen
Dean.
Greta DiGiorgio of Warrior, a junior music-voice
major who is studying at the American Institute for Foreign
Study in Rome. She is the
daughter of John and Sharon DiGiorgio.
Lauren Wiersma of Vestavia, a sophomore
Spanish major who is studying at the Catholic University of
Valparaiso in Chili. She
is the daughter
of Abbie Wiersma. FAYETTE:
William Taylor Moore, a junior undecided major who is studying at University
College in Cork, Ireland. He is the son of James and Julie Moore.
HUNTSVILLE:
Rebecca Norris, a junior international studies major who is studying at the
School for International Training in Toulouse, France. She is the daughter
of James and Sally Norris.
MOULTON:
Franklin Slaton, a senior history major who is studying at Lancaster
University in the United Kingdom. He is the son of Luke and Katherine
Slaton.
OAK RIDGE, Tenn.:
Susan Geist, a senior math major who is studying at Macquarie University
in Sydney, Australia. She is the daughter of George II and Reaves
Geist.
SPRING HILL, Tenn.:
Kimberly Hamilton, a sophomore Spanish major who is studying at
the University of Belgrano in Buenos Aries, Argentina. She is
the daughter of Ralph and Jennifer Hamilton.
