BIRMINGHAM, Ala.Birmingham-Southern
College's student computer programming team The Transformers
won first place in Division II of the Association for Computer Machinery
Southeastern Regional Programming Team competition.
The annual competition was held Oct. 12 at Embry-Riddle
Aeronautical
University in Daytona Beach, Fla. Eighty-four teams from 40 Southeasterncolleges
and universities participated. Division II included 31 teams from
institutions that do not have graduate programs in computer science.
The BSC Transformers team placed 15th out of 84 teams
overall.Another BSC team The Horde placed 12th in Division
II and 45th overall.
The BSC student teams are advised by BSC Assistant
Professor of Computer Science Dr. Marietta Cameron and BSC Associate
Professor of Computer Science Dr. Lewis Patterson.
