Birmingham-Southern professor recognized nationally for accounting research

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Dr. Ron Stunda, associate professor of accounting at Birmingham-Southern College, has been presented with an Outstanding Manuscript for Accounting Research Award by the American Academy of Accounting and Finance.

The award was presented at the group's recent annual conference in Las Vegas for Stunda's paper “The Effects of Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Filings on Earnings Forecasts.” More than 100 colleges and universities from the U.S. and 12 other nations were represented at the conference.

A native of Monessen, Pa., Stunda joined the Birmingham-Southern faculty in 1995. He earned his bachelor's degree at Pennsylvania State University, his MBA at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and his doctorate at Florida State University.
