BIRMINGHAM, Ala.Dr. Marietta Cameron, assistant
professor of computer
science at Birmingham-Southern College, has received a $12,000,
10-week summer faculty fellowship from NASA for the second consecutive
year. The national fellowship is supervised by the American Society
for Engineering Education.
Cameron will be conducting visualization research
at Goddard Space Flight
Center in Greenbelt, Md. She is one of 24 faculty fellows selected
to work
for a three-lab consortium comprised of Goddard, Wallops Flight
Facility, and
the Goddard Institute for Space Studies.
Cameron, who joined the Birmingham-Southern faculty
in 1991, received
her bachelor's degree from Birmingham-Southern and her master's
and doctoral degrees from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Since 1964, NASA has supported a program of summer
faculty fellowships for full-time engineering and science educators
at U.S. colleges and universities.
