Birmingham-Southern College professor repeats summer NASA fellowship

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Dr. Marietta Cameron, assistant professor of computer science at Birmingham-Southern College, has received a $12,000, 10-week summer faculty fellowship from NASA for the second consecutive year. The national fellowship is supervised by the American Society for Engineering Education.

Cameron will be conducting visualization research at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. She is one of 24 faculty fellows selected to work for a three-lab consortium comprised of Goddard, Wallops Flight Facility, and the Goddard Institute for Space Studies.

Cameron, who joined the Birmingham-Southern faculty in 1991, received her bachelor's degree from Birmingham-Southern and her master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Since 1964, NASA has supported a program of summer faculty fellowships for full-time engineering and science educators at U.S. colleges and universities.
