BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-Birmingham-Southern College
assistant professor of music and voice teacher Dr. Jacqueline Leary-Warsaw
is one of only 12 from North America selected for the National Association
of Teachers of Singing 2002 Intern Program.
Interns are chosen on the basis of vocal
performance, mastery of foreign language repertoire, college-level
teaching experience, and other professional and teaching abilities.
The program will be held June 18-28 at Boise
State University in Boise, Idaho. Participants will perform and
participate in master classes with master teachers/singers and will
teach under the supervision of master teachers.
The intern program will conclude with a final gala concert featuring
performances by the 12 interns.
Leary-Warsaw, who joined the BSC faculty
in 2000, received her bachelor's degree from the University of Louisville,
her master's degree from The Catholic University of America, and
her doctorate from Peabody Conservatory of Music, Johns Hopkins
University.
