Grant to allow Birmingham-Southern professors to establish travel course to study Peruvian rain forest, language
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Two Birmingham-Southern College professors have each received $2,000 curriculum grants from the Associated Colleges of the South to establish a January 2004 Interim travel program to Peru designed to introduce students to the importance of conserving rain forests, while using their Spanish-speaking skills.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-Birmingham-Southern College has been named one of America's Best Christian Colleges-2001 by Institutional Research & Evaluation Inc. of Rome, Ga. This is the sixth consecutive year that the United Methodist-affiliated college has been included.

Birmingham-Southern was one of 175 institutions selected from a group of 1,101 schools responding to the survey. Colleges and universities in 40 states are included on the list. Other nationally recognized institutions on the list include Southern Methodist University, University of Notre Dame, and Loyola University.
