I
Foreword
On behalf of the Student Government Association, wel-
come to The Hilltop! This is an exciting time to be on the
Hilltop with all the new, positive changes. If you did not
know, SGA serves as the voice and advocates for the student
body. In addition to institutional changes, the SGA is also
implementing various new programs in an effort to better
serve the student body. We are also meeting with student
organizations, teams, and various campus groups to ensure
we are hearing a variety of opinions from different students.
One service the SGA provides each year is the publica-
tion of the Student Handbook, a booklet intended to pro-
vide students with a handy reference for many of the policies
and procedures related to student life at BSC. This hand-
book outlines policies related to student conduct at the Col-
lege, the Honor Code, as well as specific issues for Resi-
dence Life and should not be taken lightly. Regardless of
whether you live on or off-campus, all students must adhere
to the rules set forth in these pages while members of the
BSC community. As a result, it is in the best interest of each
student to familiarize himself or herself with the contents of
this booklet.
Continuing with last year’s efforts for increased com-
munication with the student body, regular updates with
occur on the new SGA website located at
Students can also follow the SGA on Twitter “bscsga” and
join the “BSC SGA” Facebook group or attend our weekly
Wednesday night meetings and bi-weekly “Ask SGA” open
forums. Other services include re-implementing the “Pan-
ther Points” program at BSC athletic events and increased
funding for student conferences, summer scholarships, and
academic endeavors as well as continued funding for the
Southern Shuttle service. Also, students can enjoy the new
recreation room, The B&G, located between the Book Store
and the Caf in the Norton Student Center.
In order to be successful in these endeavors, we need
participation and input from the student body. If you have
any suggestions or comments concerning SGA or any of its
programs, please send an e-mail to
or speak
with one of our officers or representatives: President – Brit-
tany Arias, Executive Vice President – Abigail Dy, Treasurer
Elizabeth Pettey, and Secretary – Catherine Picou.
Again, welcome to The Hilltop; we look forward to serv-
ing you this year.
