Health Services

The Office of Health Services aims to provide basic health care and health education to all BSC students. We handle many minor health problems and injuries, simple lab work such as throat cultures, allergy shots, vaccinations, and other basic services. Major illnesses and injuries are referred off-campus to numerous clinics and medical centers. On-campus service is provided by Ms. Yvette Spencer, R.N., without cost to students. When students see our doctor during his weekly visit to campus, or if an off-campus referral occurs, students must present insurance cards and make co-payments at the time of their appointment. If a student has no means of personal transportation for off-campus visits, Campus Police may be able to assist or a taxi will be called for the student.

To allow us to serve students’ medical needs effectively, we need to know certain medical information. We gather that information through the following two forms, which must be submitted by July 1:

Student Health Form/Medical Examination Form with physician signature and a copy of the front and back of your health insurance card.

BSC Students are also required to maintain health insurance, for which they must provide proof. If students do not have health insurance, a plan can be purchased through an insurance provider with which the College partners.
