Vocational Discernment
Listening for the Voice of God
College is full of questions – most notably, “What should I do with my life?” As we sort through majors, purpose and direction is something that many of us crave. Frederick Buechner talks about vocation as the place where our deepest joy meets the world’s deepest needs. Of course, the world’s needs are great—but how do we find deep joy?
No answers here, but a few paths to follow.
- Read Parker Palmer’s book, Let Your Life Speak, available to borrow from the Chapel.
- Visit the Office of Career Counseling, to take a personality indicator like the Myers-Briggs or have a conversation about internships.
