Welcome to the Office of Religious Life at Birmingham-Southern College!labyrinth

It’s not a maze.  It’s a labyrinth.  Specifically a unicursal labyrinth, meaning it has only one path.  You cannot get lost in this labyrinth.  The labyrinth in our logo is the Chartres Labyrinth from the Chartres Cathedral in France.  Labyrinths are used for prayer and meditation and are not limited to one specific religion or another.  We believe life isn’t a maze – it is a labyrinth and we hope the information on the left will help us Chapel in the eveningwalk it together.

Our hope is to support and enrich the education that BSC offers by encouraging students of various religions and no religion together to wrestle with questions of meaning, purpose, and vocation in a religious climate that is open and diverse.

As a United Methodist Affiliated College, Birmingham-Southern’s Chaplain and Office of Religious Life exist to provide opportunities for community worship, study, pastoral care, and interfaith dialogue.  In this place we can all share a voice and be invited to participate in service and conversations that bring us closer to each other and our own spirituality.  All are welcome and we hope in some way, you’ll join and grow with us.

Our website can help you find people, events, and ideals that make Religious Life at BSC a worthy pursuit.  Please feel free to contact me at 205.226.4761 or jhinnen@bsc.edu if I can be of assistance.

Godspeed, Rev. Jack Hinnen, Chaplain
