Welcome to the
Meyer Planetarium
Our sky is filled with stars, stories, and facts
for us to share with you!
The majestic silence of the stars has inspired not only scientific scrutiny, but also some of the world’s loveliest poetry and music. Down through the ages, people have found a source of profound thought in the vastness of the universe and its creations. In these days of smog-filled skies, it is reassuring to know that there is a place where one may still see clearly the brilliant nighttime heavens. Within reach of almost everyone in Birmingham and surrounding areas is the Robert R. Meyer Planetarium, located on the beautiful Birmingham-Southern campus. Although the planetarium sky is an artificial one, you can still feel as though you are sitting outdoors and gazing up at the stars.
The planetarium’s valuable antique model Spitz A3-P star projector provides a wide variety of shows to the public—preschoolers through senior citizens. Come join us as we take you for a trip through time and space. Tell a friend!
