Office of Accessibility

Office of Accessibility

Birmingham-Southern College is committed to providing each student with the resources and support needed to ensure the best opportunity for a healthy and successful experience on the Hilltop. The Office of Accessibility Services partners with administration, faculty, and staff to work together to promote an accessible and inclusive environment.

The Office of Accessibility Services assists incoming and current students with obtaining academic and residential accommodations, and meal plan modifications.  Registering with the Office of Accessibility Services is a separate process from applying for admission to the college. Students with disabilities should send their documentation and related information to the Office of Accessibility Services, instead of the Admission Office.

Otherwise qualified students, who are substantially limited by an impairment in one or more life activities, may choose to disclose to the Office of Accessibility Services that they have a disability at any time while enrolled at Birmingham-Southern College and initiate the process for obtaining services.

PRIVACY

All documentation of disabilities is received and held solely by the Office of Accessibility Services. Documentation is treated as confidential. Students must provide informed and written consent for documentation to be released. Student records are protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
