Learning, sports, and fun from a BSC perspective

College announces its 2008 summer camp lineup

The Birmingham-Southern campus has become a popular summer destination for hundreds of youth from our area, in addition to youngsters who attend our camps from other states and countries.

The college provides an ideal setting for boys and girls to enjoy their time off from school while being offered a variety of innovative programs to choose from—activities designed to be both fun and educational. Youth can get a taste of college life at BSC as well as learn valuable skills in sports, acting, leadership, and music from a collegiate team of coaches and teachers.

Youth ranging in age from 6 to 18 can attend either individual or team summer sports camps in June and July for baseball, basketball, football, lacrosse, soccer, softball, track and field, and volleyball. For more information, call the Athletics Department at 205/226-4996 or visit the BSC athletics Web site at www.bscsports.net. Participants will receive personal sports training for skill levels ranging from beginners to more advanced athletes.

During the 14th annual Student Leaders in Service program June 8-13, students will have numerous opportunities to practice leadership through simulations and community service projects in Birmingham—including working with children, the environment, and the working poor. For more information, call 205/226-4679.

Birmingham-Southern also hosts camps each summer for youth interested in developing their talents in music and theatre.  For more information about these camps, contact the BSC Conservatory at 205/226-4960.

For more details on the BSC Intensive Summer Dance Workshop in June for ages 12-18, call 205/323-5390.

Application deadlines vary for all of BSC’s summer youth opportunities. For more detailed information on the camps, visit the camp links on the right side of this page. Printable registration forms are available for several of the programs.
