BSC Tag

Collegiate license plates are redesigned/reissued every five (5) years. Proceeds from the sale of BSC license plates fund undergraduate scholarships at Birmingham-Southern.

Plate Fee (in addition to the standard registration fee):
A $50.00 additional fee must be paid to purchase/obtain the license plate. The $50.00 additional fee also must be paid each time the license plate is renewed. The fee shall not be prorated (i.e., if you purchase/obtain the collegiate license plate six months into your registration year, the entire $50.00 additional fee still must be paid).

Is any documentation required to purchase the license plate?
No documentation is needed. The plates are available to all supporters registering private passenger vehicles (to include station wagons and pickup trucks) or motor homes in Alabama.

How do you obtain a BSC license plate ?
BSC license plates may be purchased at the license plate issuing official’s office in the county where the registrant resides. Pre-numbered plates may be obtained at the time of purchase; however, personalized plates must be ordered. If a personalized message is approved by the Department of Revenue, the license plate issuing official will collect the appropriate fees from the registrant and issue a 60-day temporary tag for each personalized license plate ordered along with month and year decals to be affixed to each plate when received. Once manufactured, the license plate(s) will be shipped directly to the registrant.

May a BSC license plate be transferred to another person?
BSC license plates (both pre-numbered and personalized) may be transferred only to a spouse or child, and only then if the vehicle also is transferred.

If you currently own or have recently purchased a BSC license plate, please notify Erica Sellers ’05 in the Office of Annual Giving at esellers@bsc.edu or (205) 226-7738 to ensure that you are properly credited for the $48.75 gift that the college receives from your purchase of a BSC tag. Please include your name and class year (also spouse's name if an alum) and the approximate renewal month for your tag.
