To apply to Birmingham-Southern College, you will need to complete the Application for Admission. You can do this via Common App.

In addition to the Application for Admission, you will need to submit:

  1. Your Official scores (transcripts) from grade 9 onward

  2. Your Official TOEFL or IELTS score report from the testing agency (for students whose native language is not English)

  3. Your Official SAT or ACT score report from the testing agency. Taking one of these tests is not required, but is highly recommended.

  4. Two letters of recommendation. At least one of these letters should be from a teacher or school official.

  5. An Affidavit of Financial Support with accompanying Proof of Finances (this is typically an official letter from your bank showing available funds).

  6. A copy of a valid passport photo page

Tips: Social Security numbers are only required for US Citizens and Permanent Residents. If you are not a citizen or Permanent Resident of the United States, leave this question blank.

If you plan to take the ACT and send scores to BSC, you will need our school’s code: 0012. If you plan to take the SAT and send scores to BSC, our SAT code is: 1064.

Birmingham-Southern requires for you to take the TOEFL or IELTS test if English is not your first language. Our TOEFL code is: 1064. IELTS does not use a school code.

Our Sklenar Center for International Programs works to make international students feel at home on the Hilltop and assists with immigration status. Specific programs include:

  • Global Gatherers

  • International Student Ambassadors

  • BSC’s International Student Handbook

Additional help comes from the Multicultural Affairs Office, which hosts cultural events and sponsors clubs for students interested in foreign languages, international film, and various regions of the world, including Asia and the Middle East. They also offer free airport pickup for international students, campus tours, and other assistance.
